Custom Web Apps

Apps for when a website isn't quite enough .

Custom tools that take work off your plate or put something useful in front of your audience. Built around how your business actually runs.

01 ·Who it's for

A business owner who knows there has to be a better way.

If you're nodding before you finish the sentence, we should talk.

  • You've stopped checking your contact form before noon because you already know what's in there: another three-paragraph essay you have to sort through and reply to.
  • Your booking flow ends with someone emailing you, and you take a day to reply, and the booking sometimes doesn't happen because you took a day to reply.
  • You're answering the same five questions in your inbox so often you've started keeping the answers in a Google Doc, which you also have to keep updating.
  • Your website has a list of services, and a calculator or directory or quiz would actually help your visitors pick the right one, but you don't know how to build one.
  • You've been Googling "how to automate [thing you keep doing]" for the last three months and the only thing you've actually done is open more tabs.

Send me the list. The longer it is, the better.

How I price

Most projects land between $400 and $2,500. A few go bigger. Scoped after we talk so you know exactly what you're paying for and what you're getting.

03 ·How it works

From idea to working app.

01

Chat

Tell me what's slowing you down. We'll talk through how you actually do it now, and what a better version might look like. If I can build it, I'll send you a real plan within a couple days.

02

Plan

Before I write a line of code, you get a real plan. The whole thing, in plain English. No mystery quotes, no surprise invoices. Once you say go, I take 50% upfront and start building.

03

Build

I build it. You go run your business. When it's ready, you'll sign off and it goes live. I stick around for 30 days in case anything pops up, and if you keep me on a care plan I'm just there for the long haul.

Aesthetic instinct. Serious technical skill.

Barb blends aesthetic instinct with serious technical skill! She created a polished, incredibly functional AI tools directory website for my community, and the structure makes complex information simple and works flawlessly. I can't recommend her keen eye for design and her brilliance at vibe coding enough!

She listened. It works beautifully.

Barb recently developed an app for me to utilize in the backend of my web design business. It works beautifully! She really listened to what I was wanting to create, super quick to respond, and truly just a wonderful experience. Highly recommend her for your website and any app development needs!

06 ·Real questions

Things people ask.

The questions I get most often. If yours isn't here, send it over on the contact page and you'll get a real answer from a real person.

Do I really need an app, or will my website do?

Most small businesses don't, and shouldn't get one just because. The question is whether something specific is costing you time or losing you business. If you're answering the same questions in your inbox every day, your booking system is held together with email forwarding, or your visitors are bouncing because they can't get a real answer from your site, then yeah, you probably need one. If everything's running smooth, hang onto your money. We'll talk when something starts to break.

What if I already have an app and just need part of it built or fixed?

Totally fine. I take on partial work all the time. Hooking up a back end someone else built. Fixing what another developer started and ditched. Adding to an app that's almost working but not quite. Send me what you've got and I'll tell you what I can do.

How do you figure out what to charge?

We talk first. You tell me what you're tired of doing manually and what you're trying to fix. Within a couple days I send you a plan in plain English with what I'm building, what it costs, and how long it takes. The price isn't a mystery and it doesn't move once we both sign off. If something genuinely needs to change mid-build, we talk about it before any work happens. No surprise invoices, no scope creep (the fancy term for "they kept finding new stuff to charge me for"), no awkward conversations about money halfway through.

Can I update it myself after launch?

Depends on the app. Some are built so you can add stuff yourself, like dropping in a new listing or a new form question. Others have logic running behind the scenes that's better left to me, and those work best with a care plan in place. We sort that out when we're building it, so you know exactly what you're signing up for.

What if it breaks?

Every app comes with a 30-day window after launch for fixes, no charge. After that, if you're on a care plan, I just handle it. If you're not, you can reach out anytime and I'll either fix it on the spot or quote you. Apps have moving parts, which means they sometimes do weird things. That's normal. It's also what I'm here for.

Can you give me a ballpark on how long this'll take?

A couple weeks for most things. Longer if you're asking for the moon. The plan I send before any work starts has the timeline locked in, so you're never wondering when it's done. And if you're asking because you need it done yesterday, ask me about a rush rate.
