Make the first step
feel possible.

Stand In Pride connects LGBTQ+ people with chosen family. Some visitors arrive looking for someone to stand beside them. Others want to be that person. The website needs to welcome both, then help them work out where to go.

I rebuilt the site around those different reasons for visiting. Finding a local community now has a prominent place on the homepage, with separate pages for people seeking support and people offering it. Donations and the store stay easy to reach, too.

The people are the point.

01 / Before & after

Same heart.
A different welcome.

The original site carried the mission, but its opening screen led with merchandise. The new homepage puts real community moments beside a clear introduction, with ways to help still close at hand.

A clearer invitation

“Find a stand-in” and “Be a stand-in” make the two participation paths visible in the navigation. Visitors can choose the one that fits.

Faces before explanations

Supplied wedding and Pride photographs give the opening a human presence. The images show the community the words are talking about.

02 / The decisions

A good-looking site has
some work to do.

01 / FIND YOUR WAY IN

Put the community
within reach.

Finding a regional group is an early step in making a connection. I brought the group links high on the homepage and added a dedicated finder for visitors who need a little more guidance.

That gives the welcome somewhere to lead.

02 / KEEP SUPPORT VISIBLE

Give people a way
to give back.

Donations and merchandise help support Stand In Pride. I kept both visible, with real products and direct links to the organization's existing store and donation service.

The new site also makes room for the founder, leadership team and community stories, so visitors can get to know the people behind it.

03 / The result

A home for the community.
Room for what comes next.

The new website gives Stand In Pride a fuller home for its work, from helping someone find their group to introducing the people who run the organization.

  • Separate guidance for finding a stand-in and becoming one.
  • A regional community finder, with donations and shopping easy to reach.
  • Readable layouts on phones, with keyboard access and controls for motion.
