The rescue’s real residents lead the way, from the first visit to an individual animal’s story.

Start with the animals.
Give each one a place.

Some Oakhaven animals are waiting for an adoptive home. Others will spend the rest of their lives at the sanctuary. The website needs to explain both, without making the visitor work out the difference on their own.

I rebuilt the site around meeting the residents and understanding their care. A searchable directory gives each animal a place, with their own story and a way to help nearby. The homepage introduces the rescue before inviting people further in.

A name. A face. A reason to care.

01 / Meet the residents

Meet Derrick.
Then meet the rest.

Derrick is an Indian Runner duck who keeps the flock organized. Her name was chosen before anyone knew she was a girl. Details like that make an animal’s page worth reading.

Make the connection personal

A real photograph and the rescue’s own account introduce Derrick as an individual. Her page keeps sponsorship beside her story.

Keep the next step close

Visitors can support Derrick or return to the directory to meet another resident. The story and the action belong together.

02 / The decisions

A growing rescue needs
more than a gallery.

01 / FIND YOUR WAY

Find a familiar face.
Or meet someone new.

The directory can be searched by name and filtered by species or adoption status. Someone looking for a pig to adopt has a different starting point from someone returning to sponsor a sanctuary resident.

Alphabetical sorting gives the list a predictable order. Visitors can also sort by arrival date, while clear status labels explain which animals are available for adoption.

Name search, species and status filters, with sorting that helps a growing directory stay useful.
02 / TELL THE STORY

A story with
somewhere to go.

A resident’s page pairs their photograph with the details that make them recognizably themselves. Age and arrival information sit beside their story, and the sponsorship link is easy to find.

I wanted the support options to feel connected to the care. The wider site also explains volunteering and other ways to give, so visitors can find a contribution that fits.

03 / The result

A home for the stories.
A path to supporting them.

The site is live, with a directory that can grow as animals arrive, find adoptive homes or settle into sanctuary life. The rescue can introduce its residents individually while keeping the wider mission easy to understand.

  • Searchable resident directory with species and status filters.
  • Individual stories with relevant sponsorship and adoption links.
  • A clear introduction to the rescue and ways to get involved.
